Notice of accommodation tax revision from March 1, 2026

We would like to inform you that the Kyoto City accommodation tax, which you are required to pay, will be revised.

Kyoto City's accommodation tax will change from March 1, 2026. This will apply to stays made on or after March 1, 2026, regardless of the date of the accommodation contract or payment of the accommodation fee.

Accommodation tax will be paid separately on-site.

Before change
<Accommodation fee (excluding tax): per person per night>
Less than 20,000 yen: 200 yen
20,000 yen or more but less than 50,000 yen: 500 yen
50,000 yen or more: 1,000 yen

After the change
<Accommodation fee (excluding tax): per person per night>
Less than 6,000 yen: 200 yen
6,000 yen or more and less than 20,000 yen: 400 yen
20,000 yen or more but less than 50,000 yen: 1,000 yen
50,000 yen or more but less than 100,000 yen: 4,000 yen
100,000 yen or more: 10,000 yen

*The accommodation tax rate is the tax rate per person per night.
*The accommodation fee for the accommodation tax refers to the price for a room only stay, excluding meal fees.
