Press release

Vessel Hotel Development Co., Ltd. (Head office: 3-4-27 Minamihonjo, Fukuyama City We love you, your family, and this city. Hiroshima Prefecture, President and CEO:Yoshiro Seo Seo Yoshiro, hereinafter referred to as Vessel Hotels) is scheduled to open on Wednesday, December 1st REF Matsuyama City Station by VESSEL HOTELS (Manager:Masashi Renseki Masashi TsureishiWe will be conducting a crowdfunding campaign at the Iyotetsu Hotel Matsuyama (hereinafter referred to as the hotel) from Friday, October 22nd to Saturday, November 20th, with the aim of revitalizing the local area and tackling environmental issues. We hope to create an "Iyotetsu Room" to spark the interest of as many people as possible, and to work together with everyone to create the hotel and liven up the city of Matsuyama from the hotel itself.

A project to reuse retired Iyotetsu train cars as a hotel

As the hotel is located adjacent to Matsuyama City Station in Ehime Prefecture, we decided to use the concept of "THE STATION." During construction, we learned that there was a retired Iyotetsu train car that had been loved by the local community and had been a part of their lives for about 60 years. We proposed to Iyotetsu that we could reuse this train car in the hotel, with the hopes of "making our guests and the local community happy," "conveying the charm of the hotel to tourists," and "playing a part in invigorating the area as a hotel," and we were gladly accepted.

We will create two "Iyotetsu Rooms" using the driver's seat, flooring, handrails, panels, etc. from retired trains. The cost of processing and installing these rooms to ensure their safe use by everyone will be approximately 7.5 million yen per room.

We hope that by getting as many people as possible interested and supporting us, we can work together to create a hotel that will bring joy to many people, including our guests, local residents, tourists visiting Ehime and Matsuyama, and railway enthusiasts. Furthermore, we also aim to tackle environmental issues by recycling resources, and to provide a place for children to understand the importance of taking care of things.

About REF Matsuyama City Station by VESSEL HOTELS
The hotel will open on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, adjacent to Matsuyama Station in Ehime Prefecture, under the concept of "THE STATION." Guest rooms will feature Iyo Kasuri, one of Japan's three major kasuri fabrics, and a breakfast menu featuring regional cuisine from all over Ehime and local ingredients, allowing guests to experience the atmosphere of Ehime and Matsuyama throughout the hotel. The hotel will also feature public bath that can be used for day trips, as well as a family bath that can be reserved for private use.

We support family trips, which tend to involve a lot of luggage, by offering free accommodation for children under 18 who share a room with their parents or grandparents, and by unlimited amenities.

Rail view rooms available
In addition to the "Iyotetsu Room," some other rooms offer rail views of the trams that run through Matsuyama city and suburban trains. In addition to the regular trams, on certain days such as weekends and holidays, you can also see the "Botchan Train," which is modeled after a steam locomotive that was in use during the Meiji period.

"Breakfast for Traveling in Matsuyama and Ehime"
Enjoy local delicacies such as Ehime and Matsuyama's local dishes "Taimeshi" (sea bream rice) and "Moburimeshi" (moburi rice), as well as "Imabari's roast pork and egg rice," which change daily. For sweets, we offer original creations made with citrus fruits unique to Ehime, the citrus kingdom. Enjoy delicious food from all over Ehime as if you were traveling. The dishes used for serving the food are "Tobe ware," a designated national traditional craft, making the breakfast visually appealing as well.

Guest rooms that let you feel Matsuyama
There are eight types of rooms to choose from, including the concept room "Iyotetsu Room." Each room is designed to give you a sense of the region, using "Iyokasuri," a cotton fabric that is one of Japan's three major kasuri patterns.
