Iyotetsu Group Co., Ltd. (Head office: Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, President and CEO:Shimizu Shimizu Ichiro Ichiro) and Vessel Hotel Development Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, President and CEO:Seo Seo Yoshiro All right) is currently developing REF Matsuyama City Station by VESSEL HOTELS, which is scheduled to open in December 2021.

The project involves the construction of a 13-story building with a total floor area of 7,902.27 m² by Iyotetsu Group Co., Ltd. The first floor will be for restaurants, shops, and other tenants, while the second floor and above will be a hotel zone, which will be operated by Vessel Hotel Development Co., Ltd. This will be Vessel Hotels' 31st hotel in the country and their first foray into Shikoku.



The "REF" in "REF Matsuyama City Station by VESSEL HOTELS" is an abbreviation of Regional, Experience, and Flexible. Among the Vessel Hotels brands, this is a brand that specializes in regional characteristics, making it ideal for promoting the various regional attractions of Ehime and Matsuyama both domestically and internationally. The Iyotetsu Group and Vessel Hotels will work together to invigorate the region and ensure the satisfaction of visiting guests. This will be the fourth hotel under the "REF by VESSEL HOTELS" brand, following "REF Kumamoto by VESSEL HOTELS" which opened in December 2019, "REF Omiya by VESSEL HOTELS" which opened in September 2020, and "REF Kyoto Hachijoguchi by VESSEL HOTELS" which opened in March 2021.

REF Matsuyama City Station by VESSEL HOTELS is in a prime location, directly connected to Iyotetsu Matsuyama City Station. As the prefectural capital of Ehime Prefecture, Matsuyama City is a central economic and administrative center, with trams running through the city, making it easy to get around. Matsuyama City Station, a transportation hub within Matsuyama City, also provides convenient access to major famous spots such as the area around Matsuyama Castle and Dogo Onsen.

This hotel will promote the charms of Ehime and Matsuyama. It aims to be a hub rooted in the local community, showcasing all the unique and number one things that can only be found here, such as crafts like Tobe ware and Iyo kasuri, local produce like mandarin oranges and kiwifruit, and history and culture.

The hotel will also feature "Iyotetsu Rooms," a concept room inspired by trains, with windows offering views of the tramway and designed to give guests the feeling of being on a train journey. The hotel will also have public bath and a family bath that can be reserved for private use.
